Monroe, CT

The town of Monroe, CT was named after the fifth president, James Monroe. This thriving community sits close enough to larger cities to provide a reasonable commute as well as big city conveniences, yet it’s far enough away to provide rural charm and a lower cost of living. With a population of just under 20,000 people, Monroe, CT was recently featured in an article by Forbes magazine as one of the best places to live.

Monroe, nestled on the Housatonic River, features many nearby museums and historic sites. Along with excellent schools, numerous parks, a variety of churches, and modern retail stores, Monroe has easily accommodated a cosmopolitan lifestyle without losing its small-town character. The median asking price for housing is slightly lower than average for Western Connecticut,  making Monroe, CT real estate some of the most affordable in the area. Whether residents choose to relax and enjoy the many city facilities or attend an event at the new senior center, it’s easy to see why the town has a reputation for a family-friendly lifestyle.
